Stitched flowers in pineapple colours :)

by - November 15, 2012

Hi Peeps!!

"A stitch in time, saves nine!! " is a pretty famous proverb that almost all of us have heard atleast once in our lifetime.. LOL !! :))
Well, for now, i am just referring to the "stitch" word in this proverb ;-)

It is two "first"s this time -> Using stitching (hand - stitching) for the first time in my card and participating for the first time in the challenge - BGC #20 Sew Happy Stitching Challenge hosted by Beyond Grey Challenges! This challenge has been the inspiration for the creation of this card!

So here's my completely handmade card that i am linking up for the above Challenge!

I have hand cut the flowers and have coloured them with rather un-usual colour i.e, yellow amidst a green background.I have also added quilled triangles in green and yellow to the flower centers and to the background.

I have hand-stitched using the "running stitch" with a brown embroidery thread in all the below places in my card:
  • All the flower borders
  • Swirls in the background
And i must say hand-stitching on paper indeed requires lots of patience!
The sentiment - "Thanks" and the border is done using a faux - "running - stitch".

A closer view of the flower:

It is one small way of creating a bright card ( LOL ;) ) in this "oh-so-gloomy" weather.

And since I have overall used the "pineapple colours" and have adorned my card with "Quilled Triangles", i am linking this card for "first" time to the challenge Challenge #58 - Pineapples hosted by The Lollipop Ladies. This challenge has been equally an inspiration for the card colours and creation :))

I hope you all like my effort!!
Looking forward to hear your feedback :)
